Obedience sessions run about an hour, usually weekly. Puppy sessions run thirty minutes. Households with more than one dog receive a discount.

How it works

Three steps, start
to finish.

01

The consultation

We talk, we meet your dog, and we see the house they actually live in. It’s free, and it’s how the right program gets chosen instead of guessed at.

02

The program

Weekly sessions in your home, with you coached alongside your dog. Clear communication, structure, and practice in the places the behavior really happens.

03

Staying there

Training only holds if the household holds it. You leave with the habits, and we stay reachable between sessions and after the program ends.

Our approach

Our approach is balanced. Early on we lean heavily on treats, toys and praise — reward-based work builds a dog’s confidence and makes them want to engage. From there it’s all about setting the expectation — the dog learns exactly what’s being asked, and we hold that standard the same way every session.

capable, hands.

I cannot recommend Safe Paws enough! Jan is very knowledgeable, patient and kind to my pup. She loves seeing him and because of the sessions I realized she really loves to put in the work. She's made so much progress since training! Better recall and there's a huge improvement in how she reacts around other dogs. It has been money well spent!!

We cannot recommend Safepaws and Jan highly enough. We reached out because we had concerns about safely managing our large working dog, Roux. She struggled with pulling on walks, meeting new people, visitors coming into our home, and resource guarding with our other dogs and our teenagers, and we had a baby on the way!

The difference has been incredible. Roux is truly a different dog. While we don't expect her to be everyone's playful, social dog, she has learned boundaries, impulse control, and discipline that have completely changed how she behaves in our home.

One of the biggest gifts this training gave us wasn't just a better-behaved dog—it gave us confidence as owners. We now know how to appropriately manage different situations, when Roux should be out with us, and when it's best for her to be calmly settled in a safe place. Instead of constantly worrying, we have a clear structure that keeps everyone safe and comfortable.

Walks are enjoyable instead of stressful, visitors are no longer a source of anxiety, and our home feels much calmer. This wasn't about changing who Roux is—it was about helping her understand what was expected of her and giving us the tools to communicate that consistently.

If you're on the fence, especially if you have a large breed or a working dog, this training is worth every penny. It has improved Roux's quality of life and ours, and we are so grateful for everything Jan has done.

Jan has been absolutely necessary in our family! We took over two dogs that my ex could no longer care for and we love them very much but they got in two fights. We knew we needed help and fast! He completely changed the dynamic and the pack of our dogs. He taught us how to care for our dogs, how to train them and how to be the leader they so desperately needed. Since then we have had calm days, peaceful nights and dogs that are well trained and becoming more confident everyday! I never knew people like Jan existed. See we are business owners and we pour passion into our craft and that is exactly what Jan does. Our dogs love him, they trust him and we do too! Whether you have a new puppy, and old dog or an anxious, nervous behavioral one (we have all three) he is the one that will give you the calm and obedient dog you always dreamed of.

I spent many nights crying not knowing what I would do about our dogs. Thankful to have him helping guide us every step of the way.
